2007 Holiday Series - Race 4

Sixty Joggers left their dry homes for the promise of a wet and muddy run on Saturday, but with the hill too slippery for running there was a last minute decision to go to the wet weather venue on the Lake Wyangan cycle track, and then the rain held off for a straight, flat, dry and fast run.

Maria Sergi knew she had the 6.2km long course win sewn up and started the celebrations well before the line, and it was almost a minute and a half until Jo Polkinghorne came in second, fit from her holiday training camp.

Newcomer Michael Johns took third and will be rewarded with a new start group next week.

The fourteen minute group was again the most supportive and social, running and finishing close together, except for Adam 'I want someone to run with' Johnson going away solo.

In the ten minute group, John Dodd made early rash moves on the downhill but felt the pinch on the inevitable uphill return and had the David Slattery / Ian Forrest team chew him up and spit him out.

There was for a change, some co-operative running in the short course, from the six minute pair of Sophie Slattery and Macushla Josling, the eight minute pair of Nicole Forrest and Emma Slattery, and the bunch off ten minutes.

Nothing though, could stop the running ace Ben Potroz from taking another in a string of victories, starting last off thirteen minutes with Anthony Trefilo, and overtaking the field to record the day's fastest time of 10:56 for the 3.1km bitumen track.

Trefilo did his best to stay in contact and was a creditable fifth.

Tony Gullo swapped from the long course to the short for this run and was very quick for second place while Brooke Slattery made third, and young Jack Marcus put in a big effort for a little'n.
