2008 Exies Bacchus Competition - Race 1

Saturday saw Race 1 of the Exies Bacchus series commence and although the weather wasn’t as hot as it has been the competition certainly was.

This years Good Friday race is shaping up to be one of the most hotly contested with young gun Adam Rudgley recording the fastest time in Saturdays run.

Although being fastest it wasn’t enough to take first place from Nicole Restagno, who did it for the girls. The next in was Andrew Creek, then Adam Rudgley, Stephen Joyce, Teresa Burgess, Adam Johnson, Ben Chopping, Jim Salvestro, Stewart Wood and David Heffer.

Jim Salvestro will come under close scrutiny from the handicapper this week as will Keith McDonald, both recording excellent times.

Gary Signor proved he doesn’t carry out Telstra work on the hill by taking the wrong track and getting a DNF. Another spectacular moment was when Stephen Joyce thought he was back on the soccer field and took a tremendous dive. Unfortunately there was no referee in sight.

While Dad Matt is in hard training for the Six Foot Track, young Zac Trounce must be getting some pointers. He managed first in the short run. Big effort.

John Wright came in next then Christina Salvestro took third.

Some of the more mature short course runners are showing great improvement. Sandra Altin, Jane Rudgley and Robyn Delves all improving times greatly.

Newcomers Levi Thornton and Nick Poscoliero also showing some speed this week. Can they keep it up?

Ben Lyons, Ryan Altin and Fletcher Josling being very consistent with their efforts and maintaining a steady group. Enjoying their running but still being competitive.
