2008 Exies Bacchus Competition - Race 3

Race 3 of the Exies Bacchus series showed that Andrew Creek was really paying attention last week at the back of the field, to take first this week.

Jim Salvestro, despite having an extra minute added to his handicap still managed second ahead of Nicole Restagno who finished third.

Then came Matt Trounce, Adam Rudgley, David Huxley, Graeme Lyons, Teresa Burgess, Jane Huxley and Brian Bellicanta in tenth.

Only two seconds separated Mark Gatto and Rebecca Rosato in eleven and twelve, even though Rebecca had two minutes added to her handicap this week.

Adam Rudgley was only 23 seconds behind fastest time Andrew Creek and kept him in his sights all the way.

This week the long course steps up to 10km in preparation for the Exies Bacchus Good Friday run. With several Ferals heading to Tocumwal this weekend it will be interesting to see the numbers for the longer course. We wish them all well.

It has been very remiss not to have acknowledged Feral stalwart, Dom Calabria has recently become a grandfather again, with son Matthew (also a sometimes Feral) and wife welcoming a son into the world. Congratulations to them all.

The short run this week was well attended with 45 taking on the hill.

Liam Burgess managed fastest time this week, but on handicap only managed fifth place.

Ben Favero moved up a spot this week to take first from Arthur Hancock and Torren Blanch finished third.

It is rewarding to see the young runners sharing the odd joke and showing great camaraderie as they pound the tracks of the hill.

Even though the competition is fierce, this week, when Ben Lyons took a tumble fellow runner Alex Forrest stopped to show concern. All was O.K. and off they went again.

It was also good to see all the Slattery family back on deck after Brooke and Emma took it in turns to get sick keeping Mum home being nurse.

Sophie managed to avoid the bug and kept Dad company on the trek to the hill.

Saturday at 5.30 at the green water tower for 3km or a go at the 10km in readiness for the Exies Bacchus run on Good Friday.
