2008 Exies Bacchus Competition - Race 4

<p> Race 4 of the Exies Bacchus Series and what a difference a few extra kilometres makes, with several long course runners opting for the short run this week.</p>
<p> The long course numbers were very depleted, not only because of the defection to the short course but several very weary runners, returning from the half marathon in Tocumwal deciding to take a leisurely walk around the hill.</p>
<p> Matt Trounce managed to hold on to the win ahead of a very determined Jim Salvestro and Teresa Burgess. Keith McDonald once again managed a good run coming in fourth ahead of a well pleased Ron Anson, Graeme Lyons, Brian Bellicanta, Steven Graham, Adam Johnson and Adam Rudgley to round out the top ten. Adam also managed to record the fastest time for the day.</p>
<p> Marking off names for the short run was like watching an attack of ants on some poor dead beetle.</p>
<p> Luckily, some very experienced back up was on hand so the job got done and in what must be a record, 82 starters lined up for the short course.</p>
<p> The top four came from two new families. Torren Blanch came in first, followed by Jacob DePaoli, Izabella DePaoli and Liam Blanch in fourth. Mums, Tiffany Blanch and Jenny DePaoli were also on the track with their offspring.</p>
<p> It’s great to see so many families joining in and encouraging each other around picturesque Scenic Hill. (Even though it is a little dry)</p>
<p> Anthony Trefilo managed fastest time this week only just ahead of Liam Burgess and Tony Gullo.</p>
<p> For the next two weeks only, there will be a mass start for each run. Leading up to the practice Bacchus around the Lake.</p>
<p> This is to avoid the long delays experienced last week. Handicap winners will be calculated afterwards.</p>
<p> The short course will start first and the long course will start five minutes later. Make sure you are not late or you WILL miss the start. Remember to be extra careful until the track clears. </p>
