Red Hot Crack Award

How is it Awarded?

The idea : it is designed to reward the Jogger who is always "up there" in the placings but did not win a competition, a Jogger who regularly makes big efforts and records honest times, a Jogger who consistently performs near their best.

The decision process : The award is primarily points based.  There is one award to cover both Long and Short course Joggers.  Points scored throughout the year in the competition series will be totalled.  The highest score is the winner, subject to conditions mentioned below.  The Race Director(s) will weigh up the pros and cons of the candidates, and recommend a winner to the committee for ratification.

Conditions :  The recipient has not won one of the 5 X 2 competitions during the year.   Winning Special events, WardleWaddle or Winter Runner-up, do not exclude the Jogger from winning this award.

Be aware that Short course points are generally more easily gained because the proportion of walkers and beginners can be higher, so Long course runners need to be prioritised.  In some years a Short course Jogger may deserve to be the winner.

In close calls, dnf's etc can be considered.  Fewer such black flags the better.

In close calls, a Jogger who misses runs on the Hill to attend Away events may get positive consideration for this.  Consider a Jogger who is second by a small number of points but missed weeks by competing Away.  They may be considered a more deserving winner
